15's game, 21Feb 2009
You could quite well say that yesterday's effort was quite a decent game for us and for many a very enjoyable one.  Although the field still needs a bit of work and there were some concerns about dudes injuring themselves because of it- there weren't any major incidents and our team of 15 came through quite well. (besides Paddles who is having an ongoing affinity going with dog excretions - bad week). With our 15 players versus their 30+, we were on the back foot from the beginning.  Some inspired leadership in the forwards from team stalwarts Mike Smith and Anders gelled the new guys into a unit that played one of our best games by far.  All credit to the locks on the day, Paddles and Fillipe who gave 100% and managed to get around the field well and do some excellent hit-ups and some great support play.

The game was in 3parts and we definitely won one of them but there has been some debate as to which one.  The first and third sessions were fielded by the Fu-Ren 'A' players and the Boons held them out very well for very long periods of time.  The scoring took a while to get started because our defense was very steady in the tight and it was only after repeated backline attacks that they manged to break through.  Andrew (Blowers) Vickers hit the pill up with great gusto as he does and the guys managed to do some excellent work securing it for the next phases of play.

The backline had a few high asperations of running in 80 meter tries but I can't us pullin gany of them off.  There were some slick passages of play from them  and this bodes well for the team for the rest of the season.  The less said about kicks the better:)

The match was played in the real spirit of rugby - hard and aggresive but still the comraderie between both teams was there.   Everyone was pretty happy with the way the team and themselves individually played so it was a good day for rugby and it really was the winner on the day.

Good work lads and see you all on Thursday night.

Remember no game this week - paintball instead.
It's not a day off rugby - IT IS TEAMBUILDING! !!!!
RESPONSES TO ERIC.  (In my view-you are in unless you
state otherwise)
